STEPS TO IMPROVING YOUR POSTURE

Improving your posture doesn't just benefit your appearance. It helps you boost your confidence. Additionally, it has the potential to improve your health and prevent problems in the future. Poor posture, for instance, will constrict your blood vessels, agitate the nerves surrounding the spine, cause pain, and could contribute to you developing a hunched back as you age. It's never too late to start improving your posture, and Ramar Chiropractic, serving Shelby Township and the surrounding Michigan region, is here to assist.

1. Start With How You Sit

Our Ramar Chiropractic and Rehab chiropractors advises patients to start the process of improving their posture when they sit. When you sit down to watch TV, read, relax, use the computer, or eat, force your shoulders down, even if it feels uncomfortable. Always sit up straight and tall like you were taught in school. Although you'll have to think about how you're sitting at first, it'll eventually become natural.

2. Position Your Computer Properly

Positioning your computer properly is one of the main ergonomics we recommend to patients. You shouldn't have to hunch over your monitor or twist your neck in any manner to see the screen of your computer. This is especially important if you work at a job where you're on the computer for prolonged periods of time. The monitor of your computer should be placed directly in front of you. Make sure the computer is at a comfortable height for you. Your eyes should be focused on the part of the screen that is two to three inches below the top of the computer.

3. See a Chiropractor Regularly

If you notice you have pain in your back or neck, contact us at Ramar Chiropractic and Rehab immediately. The same applies if you know you have poor posture without any symptoms because eventually, you'll develop symptoms. A chiropractor has the potential to perform a back or neck adjustment. A back or neck alignment is conducted through manual manipulation, and it realigns the vertebrae and discs in the spine. It takes pressure off of the surrounding nerves and soft tissue, ultimately reducing your pain.

In addition to a back or neck adjustment, a chiropractor has the potential to reduce the pain and discomfort you're currently experiencing from poor posture through a massage service. This particular technique reaches the muscles deep within the back.

Exercise therapy is another vital component for treating poor posture. The chiropractor will guide you through a series of exercises that help you to learn what good posture feels like. It helps to exercise the muscles necessary for good posture, so it'll will become comfortable to you.
